Pelagic Ecology Baseline

Desktop reviews were carried out to assess baseline species in the study area.  Based
on existing data it is evident that the waters of the proposed wind farm are not frequented
by Indo-Pacific hump-backed dolphins (
Sousa chinensis) and are only lightly utilized by
Finless porpoise (
Neophocaena phocaenoides) – with this species preferring more
sheltered coastal waters around the Ninepins and Po Toi islands, and other waters to the
south.

Other species have been recorded passing through the study area occasionally,
including sharks, rays, skates and sea turtle.
